ReplyDeleteHi Theodoros,
ReplyDeleteI have a hdx1000. I failed to get your application working.
First, I used the telnetd available from CSI. When browsing I get the same screen as this user
(http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/3195/hdx1000.png). I believe that this telnetd uses ansi escape sequences to color code the various menu entries. Which show up in your application as [1;34. See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ANSI_escape_code.
The biggest problem caused by this is that browsing stops working.
So I removed it and installed the version from lundman to my harddisk. Now browsing works fine, because this version is so nice to leave the colors of the text untouched. Now browsing works. But now the play button does nothing. I can insert files in a playlist, but cannot play it. However the remote control screen works, I can start, stop, reboot, etc.
Any idea what to do?
Okay, I solved the problem with the commands. It appears that it needs the location of busybox26, which is not on the disk when you install the Telnetd from CSI.
ReplyDeleteNow the color thing is left. Any idea how to solve that?
Right, solved the color problem.
ReplyDeleteTo find the content of a directory the standard ls command is used. The ls command is implemented on my hdx1000 by busybox. The ls command is in fact a hard link to busybox.
Now I had 3 versions of busybox on my hdx:
1. The original version
2. The busybox26 version from the Lundman website
3. The busybox version from CSI
The implementation from number 2 and 3 create the color using the ANSI escape sequences.
So I modified the CSI Telnetd startup script and added a line which effectively links /bin/ls to /bin/busybox_org (which is the original busybox version).
Now that I know the root cause let me make some improvement suggestions:
1. Remove the color escape sequence. Simple remove everything between (esc)[ en de character 'm'. I believe a simple regexp will do the trick.
2. Search for busybox or busybox26 instead of asking, by checking with the ls command if it is available and executable. Search location are /bin, /tmp, /share/tmp, /share/Apps/Telnetd/bin and a few others.
These two improvements will greatly improve the reliability of the iOS app.

ReplyDeleteHey, i have a problem maybe someone can help me.
ReplyDeleteYesterday everything works fine, but now i can´t start a videofile. The connection with the nmt is ok. He also shows all my files and all usb devices, but when i want start a video- or a musicfile nothing happens. I hope someone have fix for it.
THX
Hi Alex,
ReplyDeletePlease check if the path under busybox26 location contains the busybox26 command or busybox26 is not marked as executable. The easiest method to do so is by downloading an iPad telnet client and point it to your nmt.
I am really impressed by this application Bravo for your work.
ReplyDeleteNow I think you can make another application for the jukebox NMJ.
I am willing to pay dearly for an application NMJ Remote
What do you think ?
Hi,
ReplyDeletei've been missing out on these comments because for some reason i wasn't subscribed to the post.
I always note user requests for future updates. For the Jukebox NMJ i gave it a try a couple of times but it didn't seem to work for me (maybe because i have everything on my nas).
But if this works why would you need something similar on the iPhone?
